Several City of Ottawa services will be affected by the Labour Day Monday holiday on September 1.
There will be no curbsidegreen bin, recycling, or garbage collectionon Labour Day. Labour Day’s pickup will take place on Tuesday, September 2. In addition, the collection of garbage, green bin and recycling materials will be delayed by one day for the week of September 1.
Goulbourn Recreation Complex gyms and activity rooms will be closed for annual maintenance from August 30 until September 5. The work includes cleaning and painting of the facility. The arena part of the facility will remain open. The front desk at the GRC will be open to accept registrations, or you can register online here.
“Proposal for Draft Plan approval for a 31-unit townhouse development on a private street. The private street will be cul-de-sac with access onto Kittiwake Drive. Visitor parking will be provided on the private street in accordance with the zoning for this property.”
OC Transpo’s fall service changes will mean a slightly longer commute for Stittsville residents who rely on the 96A route. The changes were confirmed as part of the transit agency’s regular fall update of its various services.
Demolition of the old Bradley’s General Store building at 1518 Stittsville Main Street started at 7am today. By 10am it was a pile of bricks. A fire destroyed the building in September 2013. Although it had heritage designation, the building was deemed to be structurally unsound.
No word yet on what will replace the building, or when.
“Yesterday’s fire on Abaca Way was caused by a carelessly discarded cigarette. Cigarette was put in a planter which caught fire. This is the third fire in a week caused by carelessly discarded smoking material.”
