Splash pad season ends September 17

The City of Ottawa’s outdoor swimming season has come to a close but area splash pads will stay open until Sept. 17.

With the ongoing closure of the indoor swimming pool at the Goulbourn Recreation Complex, Stittsville swimmers have needed to venture a bit further away this year to take a dip.

The city’s outdoor pools provided a welcome option again this year. The nearby pools at Glen Cairn and and Katimavik were well used. The past year also saw the launch of a major new public swimming facility in the Richcraft Recreation Complex in Kanata North.

In a recent public notice, the city said area beaches would no longer be supervised as of Aug. 18. The final closing dates for outdoor pools and wading pools was to vary between Aug. 17 and Aug. 31.

The city said most of its splash pads will continue to operate between 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. until September 17.

Splash pads in or very close to Stittsville include Bandmaster Park (230 Mistral Way), Upcountry Park (310 Upcountry), and Walter Baker Park (100 Walter Baker off Terry Fox).  A full list of the city’s splash pads can be found here.
