The Ottawa Public Library’s Stittsville branch will be closed from June 17 through July 14 to receive improvements. The improvements include full conversion to Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, the installation of new carpeting throughout the branch, and the creation of a single service point.
During the improvement period:
- Library services will be available throughout the closure via a Library Depot at the rear of the Stittsville branch. The Depot will open on June 18. Signage will direct customers to the rear door.
- The Depot will operate during regular branch hours. Customers will be able to drop off materials, pick up holds, and select some materials from small browsing collections.
- Wheelchair accessibility to the Depot entrance is limited by narrow sidewalks. The nearest wheelchair accessible branches are Hazeldean (50 Castlefrank) and Beaverbrook (2500 Campeau).
- FOPLA will not be able to accept donations of books from June 12 through July 16. The nearest FOPLA drop-off locations are Hazeldean (50 Castlefrank) and Beaverbrook (2500 Campeau).
