City staff think they’ve identified the source of some mystery blasting that’s been felt by residents in communities like Jackson Trails, Bryanston Gate and Fairwinds in the north part of Stittsville.
Here’s what one resident posted on August 31: “Was that blasting in the Potter’s Key development that just shook everyone up like mad? There was no warning to the people in the area, none of the ‘warning whistles’ leading up to the blast… and holy cow I am touring my house for damage. That was nuts!”Continue reading →
This week at the Spirit of the Capital Youth Awards, Stittsville’s Tysen Lefebvre received the Max Keeping Award for Personal Strength and Courage. It’s awarded annually to an individual who has demonstrated a tremendous passion for life by overcoming personal obstacles. Tysen’s goal is to raise one million dollars for Make-A-Wish. POTTER’S KEY ZONING APPROVED This week City Council approved a zoning change for 6111 and 6141 Hazeldean Road, site of Minto’s future Potter’s Key development. Attached to that zoning change was a condition that “only single detached units are to back onto existing single detached units in the Echowoods and Jackson Trails subdivisions”. Continue reading →
UPDATE NOVEMBER 11: Melissa Côté from Tartan Homes tells StittsvilleCentral.ca that the blasting will begin sometime between December 2-8, and last approximately 50 working days, or two-and-a-half months.
Some residents living on the western side of Fairwinds have received letters about upcoming blasting in the Poole Creek Village area.
The blasting is part of housing construction by Tartan and Tamarack for the Poole Creek Village subdivision. We’ve asked both companies for information about when (and how long) the blasting will occur and will update this post when we hear back. Continue reading →
