The official re-opening of the swimming pool at the Goulbourn Recreation Complex will be held on Saturday, July 4 from 12:30pm-4:30pm.
UPDATE (June 11): In an updated provided to the Stittsville Vallage Association, Shad Qadri said the swimming pool at Goulbourn Rec Centre will open for public swimming June 29, and for swimming lessons on July 4. They’ll be an official re-opening event on July 4 as well.
The City of Ottawa is advertising summer swimming classes on their web site at the Goulbourn Recreation Pool, starting July 4. That puts the pool roughly on track for the late June completion of construction that was promised last fall.
Shad Qadri provided this update about repairs to the pool at the Goulbourn Recreation Centre:
As part of the ongoing GRC Pool construction, painting of the steel beams will be beginning in the days to come and lasting throughout the month of March. Ruiter Construction has scheduled the work to begin the week of March 9th. We thank the residents for their patience with the ongoing pool construction; this stage of the work can generate dust and painting odours. Steps are being taken to minimize the paint smell from spreading including but not limited to; the sealing of the construction zone from the occupied adjacent areas, maintaining an atmosphere negative pressure inside the painting area preventing the air to bleed into the remainder of the building. Part of the parking lot at the Goulbourn Recreation Complex will be closed on Tuesday, December 16.
Ruiter Construction will be having steel delivered for the ongoing pool renovations. There will be a crane and two 50-foot trailers. Signage will be posted to notify clients of reduced parking for that day, according to city councillor Shad Qadri.
