City seeks feedback on new commemorative park names

The City of Ottawa Commemorative Naming Committee is conducting online public consultations on several naming proposals, including several parks in Stittsville and two nearby rinks in Kanata South,  The deadline for submitting comments online is December 18, 2016. Continue reading


Only a couple tables left for Rotary Club Trivia Challenge

There are only a couple of tables left for the Rotary Club of Ottawa Stittsville Trivia Challenge Night.

When:  Friday February 19, 2016
Where: Lions Hall, 1339 Main Street, Stittsville
Time:    Doors open 6:30pm, Challenge starts 7:30pm Sharp
Cost:    $200 a team with a maximum of 8 persons per team ($25.00 per person)
 Prizes:   Cash: 1st prize $500, 2nd $350 and 3rd $100  & Additional prizes
Tickets : Cheque payable to Rotary Club of Ottawa Stittsville. Tickets includes pizza, coffee, tea and popcorn. Cash bar available for pop and liquor.

Money raised goes to the many community and international projects that the Rotary Club supports.  Local projects include the Dave Smith Youth Drug Treatment Centre, Youth Bursaries and Training Programs, and the W.J. Bell Rotary Peace Park in Stittsville.



PHOTOS: Opening of the Rotary Peace Park and labyrinth

A moving candlelit ceremony capped off day of celebrations to open Stittsville’s new Peace Park, a project organized by the Rotary Club in partnership with the City of Ottawa’s Better Neighbourhoods Program.

The centrepiece of the new park is a stone labyrinth, designed as a “contemplative path” for walking meditation.  The Rotary Club says it’s “inclusive and non-denominational and is an easy way for people to centre and calm themselves.” Continue reading


A-MAZE-ING: Stittsville’s Rotary Club raises funds for a Peace Park… including a labyrinth

The Rotary Club of Ottawa-Stittsville is seeking donations to help build Ottawa’s first Peace Park with a labyrinth. In recognition of your donation of $200, you will be recognized by an inscription on a brick which will be part of the pathway to the labyrinth. Leave a lasting mark for generations to come with an engraved brick in Stittsville’s beautiful Bell Memorial Park.

Each brick will have 2 lines with each line fitting 12 characters (including spaces). Inscription could be a thoughtful way to celebrate  a loved one, children/grandchildren, group/organization.
