Registration for Stittsville Minor Softball continues til April 9

The Stittsville Minor Softball Association (SMSA) is pleased to announce there are a lot of exciting changes to the softball programs in 2017. Come out and join us on the diamond, it’s going to be a great season!

New this year:

  • Register & Pay online
  • Bring a friend campaign – register a friend who has never played with SMSA and play together
  • New coaching kits that include Softball Ontario practice templates

Fun League:   Boys/Girls born 2009 through 2013 – $110

House League: Boys/Girls born 1997 through 2008 – $140 – $155 Players outside of Stittsville are Welcome.

NEW – Jr Selects Competitive program: For kids born 2009/2010 (U8) – See website for details.

Register by March 31st for Early Bird pricing. You can register online at www.StittsvilleSoftball.org or register in-person:

  • March 21: 6pm-9pm at Stittsville Sobeys, 6315 Hazeldean (Upstairs)
  • April 9: 9:30am-11:30am Johnny Leroux Arena, 10 Warner Colpitts Lane

Stittsville 56ers Novice Girls win provincial softball championship

The Stittsville 56ers Girls (ages 13-14) won the 2016 Ontario Selects Novice Softball Championship in Unionville this past weekend, knocking off the team from Forest Glade 11-8 in the final. The girls went undefeated throughout the tournament led by solid pitching from Jordyn Leboutillier, Alyssa Rollin and Avery Smith. Continue reading

In-person registration for Stittsville softball is on March 11

In-person registration for the Stittsville Minor Softball Association (SMSA) is March 11th at Sobey’s in Stittsville where payments can be dropped off or registration can be completed. Coaches and members of the SMSA executive will be in attendance to answer any questions parents and kids might have about playing softball or coaching a team. Registration can also be done on-line at http://www.stittsvillesoftball.org/ . Registration closes on March 27th. Playing starts May 1st.

Highlights for the upcoming season include: for House League teams, there will be skill assessment sessions on April 17th and 18th; for the Fun League, a coaches clinic is scheduled for April 25th which is a great opportunity to learn about basic skill development for younger players; an umpire training clinic on April 11th is a great program to learn umpiring and to earn money; and try-outs for Selects teams on April 25th and 26th and Tier 2 teams on March 28th and 29th. It isn’t necessary to have previous experience playing softball to have fun in the SMSA. Teams are formed with players of all abilities and new friendships are formed throughout the season. Year end tournaments for the House League will be held respectively on the weekends of June 19th to 21st for Mite and Squirt and June 25th to 28th for older players. Fun Day for the Fun League will be held June 6th with the season continuing to June 26th. SMSA looks forward to seeing new and returning players on the field; Play Ball!

Registration is now open for the Stittsville Minor Softball Association’s programs for boys and girls from ages five to 20 years in fun, house, select and rep leagues. New this year are girls’ Tier 2, U16 and U18 rep teams. Go to www.stittsvillesoftball.org  to register online. There will be a walk-in registration on March 11th from 6-9 p.m. at Stittsville Sobeys (upstairs), 6315 Hazeldean Rd.
