Have you noticed the Christmas stars along Stittsville Main Street?  They’re looking a lot brighter this year thanks to the Stittsville Lions Club and a donation from Minto.

Minto kicked in about $1,300 that helped pay for new garland and new lights for the 17 stars that adorn the lamp posts along Main.  It’s been at least 15 years since they first were put up and this is the first time they’ve been refurbished.

“It becomes part of the history of the village,” says Lion Beth Lewis.

“I got some Stittsville Lionnettes, and some of the Stittsville Lions, and some people from Shad’s office, and there were some Stittsville Food Bank people involved.”

One afternoon at the Lions Hall, volunteers worked in pairs to re-string the stars. “It’s all rope lighting, so one held the lighting and one put the zip ties on them… what they didn’t get finished, myself and my daughter finished the rest of them.”

The Lions also supply and install all the Christmas lights on the trees at Village Square Park.
