Martin Aubé is one very happy man these days. Aubé dropped into Stittsville’s Petro Canada located on Hazeldean Road. While there, he did something that everyone does weekly, bi-weekly or on a whim — he purchased a Lotto 6/49 ticket.
The ticket was for the April 20th draw and yes, his ticket won the big prize. Aubé has been playing the same numbers for 31 years.
Shocked and tongue-tied, he shared the win news with his wife, locked the ticket in his safe until he travelled to Toronto to pick-up his winnings on April 25th.
Aubé does volunteer work with the Special Olympics, along with his full-time government job. “It feels great to be able to help people, especially setting up my family for the future,” he said as he explained that he also plans to buy a house and maybe a new car (or two) — “I have a few in mind,” added Aubé.
This should give us all hope that playing the same numbers for any length of time can teach a person that ‘patience is a virtue’.
