CITIZEN: 19 Ottawa intersections that need safety upgrades

The Citizen’s Jon Willing has an article about traffic safety at intersections:

At 19 Ottawa intersections where signals are warranted but not installed, there were 102 crashes over three years… There isn’t enough money in the budget to install traffic lights or roundabouts at all the intersections that currently meet the statistical thresholds for traffic controls. Councillors have heard a traffic signal can cost up to $2 million and a roundabout can be as much as $3 million, depending on the technical and property requirements.

You can read the full article here. He lists several intersections in and around Stittsville that meet the warrants for upgrades, including:

  • Bridgestone and Eagleson
  • Eagleson Road and Flewellyn Road
  • Huntmar Road and Maple Grove Road
  • Huntmar Road and Richardson Side Road
  • Stonehaven Drive and Stonemeadow Drive
