City funding assures Stittsville Business Association banner project will fly

We have written many times that small businesses are the core of every community and for Stittsville this is no exception. The Stittsville Business Association (SBA) has been working diligently with Councillor Glen Gower and the City of Ottawa on a creative project for our town that supports local businesses – banners will be hung on Stittsville Main Street bringing a fresh look to our main thoroughfare.

In Mayor Watson’s ‘State of the City’ address on January 27, he indicated that funding was coming to Stittsville. It was announced on January 28 that the Stittsville Business Association would be receiving funds to promote their new Support Local Banner Project for SBA members. The banners will increase the awareness of our businesses and each will have the SBA logo on one side and the business name along with their logo on the opposite side. The banners will be installed along Stittsville Main Street during the summer months.

We spoke with Allan Ryan, President of the SBA, who was happy to share the welcome news. “We are delighted to announce that we have received funding support from the city to assist us with our Main Street Marketing banner project for our community. While the Stittsville Business Association were already committed to ensure that this exciting project, aimed at further promoting our SBA members, would became a reality in 2021, these new funds will greatly assist our efforts. We thank our local Councillor and the City staff for their approval of our initiative“.

In these very difficult times, every little thing we can do to foster support for our local business sector is a good thing. As an executive, the SBA strive each day to assist our members and to ensure that our residents are aware of the need to support them in any way they can. This main street banner project will allow us to further this objective.”

Andrea Greenhous, Vice-President of the SBA, told us, “One of the biggest roles we have is to promote our members and connect them with customers. The banners on Main Street will be another one of the ways we bring value to our members and play an active and visible role in our amazing community”.

Details will be refined in the coming weeks with information forthcoming in the near future. The SBA is very excited and look forward to the rollout of this exciting project for their members and the community at large.
