Claridge Homes proposing 112 townhomes for new development at 723 Putney Crescent

The City of Ottawa has received a Site Plan Control application from Claridge Homes (Westwood) Inc. for the vacant property at 723 Putney Crescent. The land is located in the Phase 1 of CRT Developments Inc.’s Westwood subdivision. The application is submitted to permit the construction of a Planned Unit Development of 10 blocks containing a total of 112 back-to-back townhomes. The property is zoned as R4Z, which permits back-to-townhouses, low-rise apartments or stacked units.

The applicant proposes development of a Planned Unit Development of 112 back-to-back townhouses on private streets. There would be 10 blocks each with 10 or 12 three-storey units. The site will be accessed from five newly created private streets within the development and organized in a crescent format with the entrances accessed from Putney Crescent. Each townhouse has a private garage and driveway, and in addition, 24 visitor spaces will be provided for a total of 183 parking spaces. Landscaping is proposed along the street frontages and and in various areas throughout the site.

The subject site is approximately 1.86 hectares in area and is currently undeveloped. To the north is a hydro transmission corridor and Trans Canada Trail and to the west are detached and townhouse dwellings in the Westwood Subdivision. A mix of future residential and commercial development is planned on the east side of Robert Grant Avenue. To the south is a pathway connecting Putney Crescent to Robert Grant and beyond that a vacant residential block. The site is a vacant parcel of land identified as Block 324 on 4M1619 as part of the Westwood Subdivision – Phase 1.
