(The Stittsville Goulbourn Horticultural Society has been participating in Ottawa’s Cleaning the Capital for several years and are always appreciate when Stittsville residents volunteer to give them a hand.)

Many community groups, families and individuals in Stittsville have dedicated themselves to participating in Cleaning the Capital campaigns throughout the years. We are fortunate to have these conscientious people in our community to help clean-up and beautify our parks, streets and walking/biking trails.

Fall is around the corner, so the time has arrived for groups and individuals to register for the 28th year of ‘Cleaning the Capital’ program. Clean-up projects will be taking place between September 13 and October 15, 2021. Registration is currently open and closes on September 30th.

Clean-up kits will be available for those who register. In the starter kit are: garbage bags, gloves. Leaf and yard waste bags are available while supplies last. Kits can be picked up by registrants at any one of seven City facilities – the closest for Stittsville is located at the CardelRec-Goulbourn Complex at 1500 Shea Road.

Participants can register their cleanup projects by using the online registration form available at ottawa.ca/clean or by calling 613-580-2424, extension 13458. There is also an interactive map of the areas identified to be cleaned. Submit your clean-up report by October 31, 2021.

Encourage your friends, family, neighbours and colleagues to get involved with the Cleaning the Capital project. Volunteer with a community organization to give them a hand in the clean-up or form your own group and register. You will not only feel good about volunteering, but can look around our community with pride when the day is over.
