A man in his 20s was unhurt after the commercial van he was driving plunged into a deep pond in the Tomlinson Quarry on Jinkinson Road Wednesday afternoon.

It happened around 3:15 p.m. when the van left the road and traveled 100 metres down a dirt mound and into the pond, police said. The male driver managed to escape the vehicle and swim to land without injury, Ottawa fire reported.

By Thursday afternoon, police had closed their investigation without laying charges. A police spokesperson did not say what the cause was.
