Employee tests positive for COVID-19 at Hazeldean Road McDonald’s

Today, April 17, an employee from the McDonald’s location at 510 Hazeldean Road has reported that they have tested positive for COVID-19.

A press release from McDonald’s Canada stated, “local health authorities confirmed this report.”

The employee last worked on April 12 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

All employees who may have been in contact with the employee have been asked to self-quarantine until further notice.

Customers who may have visited the restaurant on April 12 are asked to consult with Ottawa Public Health by visiting the website https://www.ottawapublichealth.ca/en/index.aspx.

“Out of an abundance of caution, McDonald’s Canada made the decision to immediately shut down the restaurant for a thorough cleaning and sanitation by third party cleaning experts WINMAR.”

Getting in contact with Ryma Boussoufa, the External Communications Manager of Corporate Relations with McDonald’s Canada, she told us that, “the owner-operators are fantastic – always keeping their people and guests at the core of everything they do!”

We continue to work with the local health authorities to support our people and our guests and will update this statement as more information is available for health authorities.”

The restaurant will re-open once the direction has been given by local health authorities.

  1. 2 sundays ago I went did the drink drive thru at this McDonalds and the guy at the window handed me food did not have gloves on. Passed my drink with napinks.

    1. Gloves on or off doesn’t make a difference. You’re probably better off with gloves off because they could be washing their hands more often, unlike people who put gloves on for their shift.

  2. How come this isn’t on any major news outlets?

My family ate from here during that time frame, not seeing this information anywhere else is causing confusion.

  3. All the more reason why Mcdonalds should not be considered as essential. Come on people! Should we really be stuffing our faces with this junk in the midst of a pandemic? Now more than ever our bodies need proper nutrition. FYI there are healthy affordable options out there, anyone who is proactive enough to get off their butts and out of the drive-thru knows so too.

    1. Ummm… this is uncalled for. Please explain to me how you’re perfect?! Oh, wait, humility and kindness was dropped from your personality. Healthy eating is not the only piece of the wellness puzzle. Take your unkindness somewhere else please, maybe go back to perfectville.

  4. I just passed by about 15 mins ago on April 18 and there is a long line up for drive through at this location.
    🤔

  5. It should be up to Managerial staff that employees are practicing safe food handling with added wipe down of packaged fast food prior to stuffing takeout bag.
