SUMMARY:Exercise Physiology and Cardiovascular Health Lab Research Study
DESCRIPTION:If you are looking for alternatives to exercise in a safe envir
 onment during COVID and would like to help advance research in cardiovascu
 lar disease and exercise training\, the Exercise Physiology and Cardiovasc
 ular Health Lab is here for you! As part of our research trials we are off
 ering one-on-one exercise sessions for patients with Atrial Fibrillation\,
  a heart arrhythmia. We are currently recruiting patients at least 40 year
 s of age for a research study which seeks to compare two exercise training
  programs or standard of care on exercise capacity and quality of life in 
 patients living with permanent or persistent atrial fibrillation. Particip
 ants will have health measures taken (such as height\, weight\, blood pres
 sure\, and body composition)\, undergo exercise tests\, and complete quest
 ionnaires. They will then be randomly assigned to one of two 12-week exerc
 ise training programs (moderate-intensity continuous exercise training gro
 up\, or high-intensity interval training group) or standard of care (contr
 ol group). The exercise sessions will be free of charge and conducted at t
 he University of Ottawa Heart Institute. We hope this study will provide v
 aluable information on the role of physical activity in improving clinical
 \, exercise and mental health outcomes in patients with atrial fibrillatio
