 AGE DAY EVENT –\n“THE GREAT ICE STORM – 20 YEARS AFTER”\nSTITTSVIL
 LE LIBRARY – SATURDAY\, FEBRUARY 17\, 2018 – 1:30 pm \n&nbsp\;\n\nCome
  out and reminisce with everyone who endured the Great Ice Storm of 1998. 
 There were highs and lows during this storm that left an unforgettable imp
 rint on many lives. GTHS wants to share these memories and stories with yo
 u.\n\nCalled the ‘Storm of the Century’\, and not to be soon forgotten
  by many\, our lives were affected in ways you can’t imagine. With three
  storm fronts dropping approximately 85mm of freezing rain in the Ottawa a
 rea\, havoc began. The freezing rain started falling on January 5th contin
 uously until January 10th. People were brought together in communities thr
 ough sharing of resources and donating their time. These good deeds are be
 yond measurable. Every area of our society was impinged on through our eco
 nomy\, hydro power\, employment\, land\, retail trade\, farming and Canada
 ’s precious sugar maple industry.\n\nTo hear more about this history mak
 ing storm and its impact on our lives\, attend the GTHS Heritage Day event
