DESCRIPTION:&nbsp\;\n\nJoin members of the Rotary Club of Ottawa-Stittsvill
 e for their International Film Series in collaboration with the Film Circu
 it of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Each month a differe
 nt film will be shown.\n\nSmall Things Like These (British/Irish\, English
 \, 98 min) showing on May 26.\nCillian Murphy\, Oscar-winning actor fresh 
 from Oppenheimer\, plays Bill Furlong\, an Irish coal merchant who witness
 es the abuses of the Magdalene Sisters in the laundry workhouses set up fo
 r young homeless women in Ireland. Murphy\, who is also the film’s produ
 cer\, has noted the parallels with Canada’s residential schools. The fil
 m is based on the narrative of Claire Keegan’s book of the same title an
 d exposes the horrors of some of the nunneries in Ireland in the 1980s. Bu
 t it also shows how Bill is able to confront his own past\, and the harsh 
 realities of the present. The film’s cinematography\, sound design\, and
  score are striking\, and the cast delivers stellar performances.\n\nPleas
