DESCRIPTION:The next meeting of the Stittsville Goulbourn Horticultural Soc
 iety is on Tuesday\, January 18th and will take place on Zoom at 7:00 pm.\
 nOur guest speaker this month\, Master Gardener Candace Dressler\, will gi
 ve her presentation “Gardening with Native Plants in Ontario.” Candace
  will discuss how different plants are native to different parts of the pl
 anet\, giving examples of the different biomes on the planet as well as th
 e ecoregions and districts in North America. She will present how to use p
 lant nomenclature and plant tags to help determine if a plant is native to
  the Ottawa area\, and finish her presentation with an overview of some of
  her favourite native plants.\nCandace Dressler is a Master Gardener\, mem
 ber of the Gloucester Horticultural Society\, and a past-Director for OHA 
 District 1. She started gardening with her grandparents on the prairies ov
 er 30 years ago\, and joined Master Gardeners in 2017. Candace has an Engl
 ish-inspired front garden and a woodland border in the back of her propert
 y. The introduction of more than 50 species of native plants to her garden
  has resulted in an increase of visiting birds as well as reduced plant ma
 intenance. Candace\, along with fellow Master Gardener Fran Dennett\, cons
 ulted on the GHS’s native garden at Madonna Long Term Care.\nSociety mem
 bers will be emailed the Zoom meeting invite. If you are not a member and 
 would like to attend free as a one-time guest\, or if you would like to be
