DESCRIPTION:The next meeting of the Stittsville Goulbourn Horticultural Soc
 iety is on Tuesday\, June 15th and will take place on Zoom at 7:00 pm.\nTh
 is month’s speaker is Master Gardener Julianne Labreche who will be pres
 enting her talk\, “Going Grassless: Meadowscaping My Front Yard.”\nLea
 rn the “how’s and “why’s” of one local Ottawa master gardener’
 s decision to remove the turf grass from her front yard and transform it i
 nto a “meadowscape” for pollinators\, including bees and butterflies.\
 nJulianne will also discuss a brief history of the North American lawn\, t
 he costs\, challenges and care of lawns\, zone-appropriate plant alternati
 ves to sod\, and ideas and inspirations for how to create a grassless fron
 t garden.\nJulianne Labreche has been a master gardener for over a decade 
 and is a member of the Master Gardeners of Ottawa-Carleton. She is also ce
 rtified as a Master Naturalist. Her nature and garden articles are publish
 ed regularly for Lee Valley Tools. Julianne’s garden is certified with t
 he Canadian Wildlife Federation and with Monarch Watch. She is a recipient
  of an Ontario Service Medal for her volunteer work. She loves to garden 
 “on the wild side” with a focus on native plants\, pollinators and bir
 ds.\nSociety members will be emailed the Zoom meeting invite. If you are n
