DESCRIPTION:The next meeting of the Stittsville Goulbourn Horticultural Soc
 iety is on Tuesday\, October 17th. The meeting will be held in person at t
 he Johnny Leroux Community Arena (second floor)\, 10 Warner-Colpitts Lane\
 , Stittsville\, at 7:30 pm. If you prefer to attend the meeting on Zoom\,

 he Zoom link will be sent to you.\nOur guest speaker tonight is Master Gar
 dener Mary Shearman Reid\, who will be giving her presentation “Preparin
 g for Winter.” A garden really is a year-round hobby\, and so the fall i
 s no exception. There is lots to do in your garden in addition to tucking 
 everyone into bed and planning for the following year. Mary will guide us 
 through the other steps that need to be taken to truly prepare your garden
  for winter.\nOver the past 25 years Mary Sherman Reid has transitioned fr
 om teacher to banker to garden centre owner. She is currently the owner of
  the Green Thumb Garden Centre (South East of Merivale and Hunt Club\, off
  Bongard). Growing up in a family of gardeners\, Mary worked as a gardener
  during her summers at university. She uses those practical skills and kno
 wledge\, as well as her business and retail skills\, at Green Thumb. Mary 
 enjoys teaching for the local school boards and speaking to garden clubs\,
  horticultural societies\, and other groups while also trying to find time
  to garden at home.\nMary is a member of Landscape Ontario\, she is a Cert
 ified Landscape Horticulturist Manager\, and she volunteers as a Master Ga
 rdener—all while running a thriving gardening business. \nCome join us f
 or an informative presentation. Society members are invited to bring goodi
 es or snacks to share during the meeting. Juice will be available\, so ple
 ase bring your own mug. There will also be a sharing table for those who w
 ish to share their plants\, seeds\, books\, or supplies.\nIf you are not a
  member and would like to attend free as a one-time guest\, or if you woul

 com with your request. Annual membership is $15 per person or $25 per fami
 ly.
