At the February 9th fire at 165 Whalings Circle in Stittsville, fire crews declared a working, heavy fire in the attached garage upon arrival. A second alarm was announced since the fire was located in an end unit of a six-row housing development.

One message of utmost importance is integral to this particular fire situation — firefighters had to shovel out the fire hydrant located across the street from the fire. Ottawa Fire want to emphasize the importance of ensuring that your fire hydrant is accessible at all times. It saves lives and time!

Another word of caution is to be and stay safe when Ottawa Fire Services crews are operating in your area. Your best practice is to remain off the roads and at a safe distance from the fire scene or in your home.
Thanks to the quick actions of Ottawa Fire, the fire was declared stopped in short time and no injuries were reported. An Ottawa Fire Investigator has been called in to determine the cause.
