Family displaced after fire on Woodwind Crescent in Fringewood South

Ottawa Fire Services received a 911 call reporting smoke showing at 27 Woodwind Crescent shortly after 2:30pm. Upon arrival firefighters confirmed flames showing on the exterior back side of the single family bungalow and declared a working fire at 2:40pm. The family had evacuated safely from the home.

The exterior fire was extinguished at 2:43pm and fire fighters continued to battle flames in the attic and roof areas. The fire was declared under control at 3:16pm and overhaul is continuing as of 3:20pm this afternoon.

The 2 adults and 2 children are displaced and will be assisted by Victim Services. Ottawa Paramedic Service, Ottawa Police Services, Enbridge Gas and Ottawa Hydro are also assisting at the scene.

There are no fire fighter or civilian injuries. An Ottawa Fire Services Investigator is responding to the incident. Damage estimates and cause are not yet determined.
