Firefighters quickly extinguish fire originating in kitchen of Arcadia home

Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) received a 911 call at 2:18 p.m. reporting a fire in a kitchen at 200 Clonrush Way in the Huntmar Drive and Campeau Drive area of Kanata.

The caller indicated that everyone had safely evacuated the home. The first OFS crew on scene did confirm heavy black smoke coming from the side of the building. A working fire was declared at that time. Firefighters engaged in a rapid fire attack while other crews began a search of the residence. The fire was confirmed under control at 2:35 p.m. A loss stopped was confirmed at 2:51 p.m.

Two adults and a 13-year-old were displaced as a result of the blaze. We want to thank our partners at the Salvation Army and Red Cross for helping this family with some of their immediate needs. A fire investigator is enroute to determine the cause.
