Here are some interesting items in the collection.
South Carleton Beanie: One fabric beenie, red and white cap, stiffened rim with “South Carleton” written in white capital letters.
German Bayonet: (a) Dark metal sheath with rounded, circular point and additional rounded attachments on the underside to fit the bayonet. (b) Long narrow blade with wood-inset handle, small attachments on the underside of the guard with circular slots.
Powder Horn: Yellowed animal horn with smaller streaks of black extending outwards to the tip where a wood plug is set into the horn’s tip, while the other side looks to be nailed shut with writing in white paint which reads “Mrs. R. Johnson”. There is a dark brown leather strip connecting the tip to the other side.
Civilian Gas Mask: Two eyeglasses surrounded with a rubber seal and black filtration unit. WWII.
Hand Laundry Agitator: Hand carved wood agitator made of two pieces of interconnected wood in a T shape, taping outwards into a set of four pegs separated by five inch cuts in the base.
