MoneySense magazine says that Fringewood is one of Ottawa’s top five best buys in real estate, in a survey of 360 neighbourhoods in eastern Ontario.
Here’s what the magazine has to say about Fringewood, an older neighbourhood south of Hazeldean Road.
“Tucked behind an industrial area and newer subdivisions, Stittsville isn’t a neighbourhood that jumps to the top of many people’s search areas. “It’s a very small subdivision, and not a fancy one,” says Tracy Robillard with Re/Max Hallmark. But if you’re looking for a bit more space and willing to put in some sweat equity then this area has some appeal. Homebuyers can get a 1,200 sq. ft. bungalow here for under $300,000 on a good-sized lot, she says. While there aren’t a lot of amenities directly in this neighbourhood, Robillard says that’s not a big negative since Stittsville residents benefit from all the amenities in Kanata, which is nearby.”
(Ahem… Robillard might want to have a better look around Stittsville. We have plenty of amenities right here, thank you.)
The Canada-wide survey picks neighbourhoods in Canadian cities that “have great appreciation potential and aren’t already on most homebuyers’ radar.” The rankings combine relative value (affordability versus nearby areas), high appreciation compared to other parts of the city, and realtor opinion.
