While visiting Almonte, Kristopher (Kris) and Victoria McGlone of Kanata dropped in to the local Shopper’s Drug Mark and while there, Victoria picked up a Bigger Spin Instant game ticket. “We’re occasional lottery players – picking up tickets on impulse. Victoria is more inclined to play INSTANT games,” shared Kris. “If it weren’t for our daughter insisting on getting out of the car, we never would have purchased this ticket!” said Kris. The couple had promised their two children they would go for a walk.

On New Year’s Eve, Kris and Victoria scratched their ticket winning a Spin. Kris took the ticket, “to the store to pick up milk and bread and handed my ticket over to the cashier, expecting to win $20. When it landed on $150,000, I was in complete disbelief!”

When the couple told their kids about the win, they didn’t quite understand, and asked, “…if they could make some donations with the winnings. We were very touched and proud this was their first suggestion!” “We would have conversations about what we would do if we ever won the lottery, never thinking it would actually come to fruition,” Kris said. “Never in my life was this expected!”

Kris and Victoria plan to make some donations, save and take care of some of their friends and family with their win.

Kanata’s Melanie Llagas, a 44-year-old Personal Support Worker, said she chose to check a few tickets while the line at the store was short. “At first I won a Free Play and was excited! When I saw I won $100,000, I thought I was dreaming,” she laughed. “I thought I was going to faint.” She called her partner to share the amazing news “I wanted to tell everyone because I was so excited!”

Melanie had said ‘yes’ to Encore when she purchased her LottoMax ticket for the November 20, 2020 draw at the Petro-Canada on Eagleson Road. She matched the last six of the seven Encore numbers in exact order to win the $100K.

Melanie says she will use her winnings to bring her family closer to her. “We all win,” she smiled.
