The boys were billeted with local families in the small town of Yamasa and had the experience of a lifetime! The boys played four games and handed out shirts and ballcaps to each of their opponents, many provided by the Ottawa Champions Baseball Club.

In addition to the games, the group visited a school to meet and speak with similar aged students who are learning English, went to a clinic where local doctors are doing great work with Canadian medicine and attended a pro game in San Pedro. On a day trip to Consuelo, the team visited a brand new nursing home in Consuelo where they were privileged to meet a gentleman who was 108 years old!

Prior to the trip, the boys collected used baseball equipment and the final count was eight hockey bags full of gear, filled and delivered to kids in Yamasa! Los Hacheros would like to say a big thank you to everyone who donated baseball equipment and to Brown’s Your Independent Grocer and Big Rig Brewery for supporting fundraising efforts for the trip.

Los Hacheros (aka Axemen) team members are: Matthew Roy, Sam Wilson, Sam Perkins, Alex Haché, Samuel McKeown, Pedro Del Corral, Cohen Radunsky, Aidan Wilson, Owen Riedel, Erik Wilson, Jeremy Costin.
