With Christmas only three weeks away, there is still time to squeeze in a few events and shopping opportunities to our hectic schedules.
Friday, December 6th
From 1:00 – 4:00 pm enjoy sparkling wine & light refreshments at ‘Sip & Shop’ at The Wellings of Stittsville on Hazeldean Road. Local artisans and vendors will be on hand with some unique gift ideas for purchase. Spread the joy! Donate something to the Kanata Food Cupboard and enter to win a door prize.
At 5:00 pm join the Peer Supporters for Gender-Based Violence services at the Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre (2 MacNeil Court, Kanata) for an outdoor candlelight service with guest speakers. The service ends at 6:30 pm. This 30th anniversary vigil is to honour all murdered and abused women who were victims of violence. Please dress for the weather. A joyous Christmas concert — Wintertime Cheer — of carols and seasonal songs will be presented by the 40-voice West Ottawa Ladies Chorus on December 6 at 7:00 pm and again on Saturday, December 7 at 2:30 pm at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, (20 Young Road, Kanata). Conducted by the founder of the choir, Stittsville resident Robert Dueck and accompanied by Lanark-based Peter Brown, the program will include a variety of songs including the beautiful harmonies of the “Nativity Carol”, the exciting rhythm of the Russian sleigh song, and the Gospel tones of “Star of Glory”. There are many more songs including some Celtic numbers as well as a chance for some audience sing-alongs. Tickets are $15 advance, $20 at the door and children under 12 are free. Saturday, December 7th
Drop in to the Stittsville Library Branch to create a holiday postcard with the travelling green screen from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm. Bring your own smartphone or tablet and snap some pictures, add a background, and send to your friends and family! Library staff are on hand to take group pictures and trouble-shoot with apps.
The Little Red Spade (1563 Stittsville Main Street) is holding a Painted Wine Glass Class from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. Paint a wine glass with a winter/Christmas theme! Keep it and display it or gift it to someone special.
Fun for all ages. The cost is $20 and includes the supplies.
Join Covered Bridge Brewing (Unit 6-119 Iber Road) for the 6th Anniversary Holiday Market from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm. The vendors taking part will be: Live Edge Creations by Jon Lester; Purely Natural – Bath, Body & Beauty; Euro Bites – European Kitchen; Beer Snacks International; Castallemmare Jewelry; and Gael Glen Farms & Apiary. Covered Bridge will also be releasing SIX (Bourbon Barrel Aged Double Dry-Hopped Double IPA). As well as the re-release of: TWO (Bourbon Barrel Aged Barley Wine); FOUR (Barrel Soured Belgian Quad); and FIVE (Rye Barrel Aged Imperial Chocolate Stout). Hope to see you all!

From 7:00 pm – 11:00 pm, the Clean Sweep Trio, featuring Denise Marion (Deneece) on lead vocals, Larry Wayne Church on lead guitar and Steve Rae on bass and back-up vocals will be playing at Brew Revolution.
Sunday, December 8th
The 4th Annual Christmas Market is taking place at Guardian Angel’s Elementary School (4 Baywood Drive) from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. A variety of vendors are participating. Admission is free and there is also free child care service in their Learning Commons. Come and enjoy an afternoon of shopping, refreshments and snacks and support our School in fundraising for our Outdoor Classroom. A raffle is to be held at 3:00 pm.
The Stairwell Carollers are performing their Christmas Concert at St Thomas Anglican Church (Stittsville Main Street at Carleton Cathcart) from 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm. Contact Nicole at the Church for tickets.
Monday, December 9th
The Stittsville Business Association is holding another Lunch and Learn on Workplace Health & Safety – 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm. It is being held at Brown’s YIG. Tickets are $10.00 and are available at Eventbrite.

Visit the OWAA gallery for the latest exhibition, featuring beautiful artwork created with a variety of mediums. While there fill out a People’s Choice Ballot for your favourite pieces at the CARDELREC Recreation Complex (Goulbourn), 1500 Shea Road. The cost is free – the artwork in located in the lobby for all to enjoy.
