On Saturday, a new bilingual “Welcome to Stittsville” sign and flagpole will be unveiled at the corner of Stittsville Main and Hazeldean Road.

The additions are part of a redevelopment of the park space around the sign, which will include an age-friendly park adjacent to the new Hazeldean Gardens retirement home that’s currently under construction. The park is being funded through the City of Ottawa’s cash in lieu of parkland (CIL) budget.

The unveiling new sign and flagpole, along with a flag raising ceremony, will take place on Saturday, June 24 between 12:30pm-2:00pm. The owners of Hazeldean Gardens will be joined by the Kavanagh family (who previously owned the Stittsville Flea Market), and councillor Shad Qadri. BeaverTails will be on hand to hand out free treats.
