Oaktree Health are excited to bring their chiropractic and acupuncture clinic to Stittsville. Located on Carp Road, their grand opening is being celebrated and Stittsville Central welcomes this new business to Stittsville. Dr. Marie-Pier Sauriol is part-owner of Oaktree and a Chiropractor; Kristin Shropshire is an Acupuncturist – both are enthusiastic with their choice of opening in Stittsville and welcoming new patients.
Dr. Sauriol has resided in Stittsville for three years so it made sense for her to open Oaktree Health in her hometown. Kristin lives nearby in Kanata-North. Dr. Sauriol told Stittsville Central, “We chose Stittsville as I love the area and wanted to become ingrained in the community. I love how small-town it feels!” Oaktree has three other locations in the Ottawa area, with a fourth opening soon with all being locally owned.
Since 16 years of age, Dr. Sauriol, after much research, decided her career choice was to become a physiotherapist. That decision was quickly changed with the help of a chiropractor. She had suffered from headaches and while attending a home show, she happened upon a chiropractic booth. After her Mom encouraged her to speak with the chiropractor at the show, she received an on-site assessment. It was decided that she should make an appointment and after a month of care, her headaches were almost gone. It was then that she knew her future career path would see her become a Chiropractor. She received her Bachelor of Kinesiology at the University of Alberta and then enrolled at the New York Chiropractic College. She emphasized, “achieving a healthy lifestyle through natural care has become a great passion of mine!” When not at the Stittsville clinic, she does yoga, enjoys long walks and loves to read – along with her cats. She says, “I also love to crochet and knit, but none of my pets like my hands doing anything but petting them – so sometimes it can be difficult to get projects done!”
Kristin, since the age of three, was determined to become a doctor. However, after an adverse reaction to a standard antibiotic at age 14, she was on a quest and discovered the world of nutrition and Chinese medicine to heal herself naturally. From wanting to join the Western world of medicine, she moved away from that direction knowing she wanted to help people with complementary medicine. She became a Registered Nutritionist, a Registered Acupuncturist, received a Master’s Degree in Natural Health Sciences and diplomas in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, along with certificates in Biofeedback and Advanced Tibetan Reiki. Kristin told us, “I feel deeply drawn to supporting people in their quest to lead their happiest, healthiest, most vibrant lives. I have a special interest in fertility optimization, prenatal and perinatal care, stress and anxiety reduction, and helping clients achieve a healthy relationship with food. My ultimate goal as a health and wellness practitioner is to help each and every one of my clients achieve radiant health. Naturally.”
