Crews from Ottawa fire and Enbridge were called to the scene of a gas leak Monday morning. Ottawa fire confirmed to 960 NEWS the leak was in a new development near Santolina Street and Rosehill Avenue. The leak did not pose a danger to the public and the area was immediately evacuated so Enbridge could stop the flow.
No residents were evacuated but access to some streets was blocked off while the leak was repaired. Councillor Shad Qadri provided an update shortly after 8:00pm:
“As a result of construction crews hitting a 4” gas main at Santolina and Rosehill earlier today, gas in this area was shut off. Enbridge is currently onsite in Fairwinds West repairing the gas line that was damaged. Will provide further up dates as I receive them. Gas to the affected units has been shut off.”
Enbridge doing it’s job and usually well done. Hopefully the contractors had locates. They are free.
