Over 9,000 items collected for Food Bank during “Fill the Bus”

For the 30th year, OC Transpo parked buses outside of local Loblaws, Superstores and Your Independent Grocers locations across Ottawa on Saturday, asking shoppers to pack them full of food donations for local food banks.

In Stittsville, the bus stopped in front of Brown’s Independent and our community donated generously for the Stittsville Food Bank.

“With the great generosity of Stittsville friends and neighbours the Stittsville Food Bank collected over 9,000 items,” said Theresa Qadri, the Food Bank’s chair. “We enjoyed a quick visit from Mayor Jim Watson and Councillor Shad Qadri. Our fantastic volunteers worked very hard all day. Thank you to all the volunteers, you were great.”
