Proposed new development could bring 300 jobs to local area

A Site Plan application to build a five storey mixed-use office building with a ground floor restaurant has been received by the City of Ottawa.

The proposed building would be located east of the Canadian Tire Centre at the corner of Cyclone Taylor and Palladium Drive. This building would be the last to be constructed to complete the original proposal for the four building complex. Three have already been constructed. There is proposed outside parking for 286 vehicles and 36 bicycles. Access to the project will be from a private road that currently services the existing three buildings. Construction should be completed in 2020 and will be the largest in Cominar’s Palladium Campus. Cominar is a Quebec-based real estate company.

According to The Ottawa Business Journal, the building is expected to house Ford Motor Company’s research and development centre, bringing 300 jobs to the Campus. Ford already leases space in an adjacent building at 700 Palladium Drive. There will be 10,000 sq. ft. of retail space up for lease.

Comments can be submitted by April 25, 2019 to Stream Shen, the City Planner for the project, by phone 613-580-2424, ext. 24488, or email Stream.shen@ottawa.ca.

The target date upon which a decision on the application is to be made by the Planning, Infrastructure and Economic Development Department is June 3, 2019.
