Qadri asks residents for input on City budget

From Councillor Shad Qadri’s weekly newsletter:

On Tuesday September 29th my office in conjunction with Councillor Marianne Wilkinson’s office held a joint pre-buget public consultation.  Marian Simulik, City Treasurer was on hand. Ms. Simulik reviewed story boards explaining how the City budget is broken down. This was followed by a question and answer period.

Some of the items that arouse where;  transit service, property tax, roads, sports fields conditions, water service and garbage pickup fees and disposal. There was also discussion on Provincial funding-what does the province cover?  This lead to a review of the Ottawa River Action Plan.

The suggestions and ideas arising from this consultation will be brought forward for consideration before the Mayor and City staffdevelop the draft budget, which will be tabled later this fall.   I would like to take this opportunity to once again thank our City Treasurer, Ms Simulik, for taking the time to participate as well as thanks to my friend and colleague Councillor Marianne Wilkinson and her office for hosting this year’s pre-budget consultation.

If you were unable to attend the consultation you can still provide my office with your input.  To assist you there is background information and budget resource materials available at ottawa.ca. I encourage you to please take the time to engage.
