Richard Brooks brings ‘folk music for everyone’ on September 11

Richard Brooks

Richard was originally a part of a well-known duo in the UK. Now living in Canada he has developed a repertoire as a folk singer with a distinctive Celtic style. He performs mostly in pubs across Ontario, and has played at the Ottawa Celtic Festival, street fairs in Carleton Place and Merrickville as well as at retirement homes, private functions and coffee houses around the Ottawa region.

He is known for his repertoire of traditional songs from the British Isles, and now includes tunes from Canada’s East coast and the USA. His style includes pieces reminiscent of Gordon Lightfoot’s repertoire. He loves to sing and perform and is also a member of the Ottawa Welsh Choir. His recent demo CD ‘Folksome’ includes a selection of his most requested songs together with a few of his personal favourites thrown in.

Come along and relax as you listen to Richard’s accessible style of singing, along with his interesting introductions and stories. The music nights start at 7pm, and as usual there is no charge, but we do have a ‘jar’ for donations to the musicians, and we hope that you will buy a drink or two (and maybe something tasty to eat!)

Richard Brooks plays Gaia Java on Stittsville Main Street on Friday, September 11 at 7:00pm.
