Seeking board members – Goulbourn Township Historical Society

Are you interested in local history and looking for a way to contribute to your community? The Goulbourn Township Historical Society (GTHS) has several vacancies on its Board and is looking, in particular, for people with marketing experience and people with ideas for planning programs throughout the year. These are volunteer positions and require once-a-month attendance at a Board meeting.

Your fellow Board members all enjoy learning more about the former Goulbourn Township, that includes Stittsville, Richmond, Munster and Ashton and the agricultural land surrounding these communities. The Historical Society Board prepare exhibits for public presentation and offers a regular monthly speaker’s program. Research is undertaken about aspects of the former Township’s history, brochures and books are published from time to time and photographs are taken of historical buildings and homes of interest to the community. The group also is called upon to appear in period costume at various events and special occasions. The GTHS also maintains a digital photograph collection and retains records of Family History and Social History files available for public use at both the Ottawa Public Library branches located in Richmond and Stittsville.

If you are interested in applying to become a Board member, please send an expression of your interest along with a brief bio to:  Secretary@goulbournhistoricalsociety.org by January11th.
