A call went out in November for members of the Stittsville Business Association (SBA) to cast their vote for the Thomas Cavanagh Annual Business Award. For the past three weeks, the President of the Stittsville Business Association, Allan Ryan, has been receiving and tallying the votes.
This is the inaugural year for the award commemorating Thomas Cavanagh who passed away in 2019. The award is to acknowledge a SBA member company that has gone above and beyond for giving back to the local community when it is needed. Something that Tom generously carried out for many years here in our community of Stittsville and beyond.
At the Executive Meeting of the SBA on December 1, 2020 the winner of the award was announced – Warmstone Family Dentistry of Stittsville. In his announcement, Allan Ryan said, “It is truly an honour to present this award in Tom’s name – to carry on his legacy and memory”. Ryan then went on to say that the runner’s up were literally a tie – Jo-Jo’s Pizza and Stittsville Home Hardware – and congratulated them both.
“I grew up here in Stittsville and it is truly an honour to receive this award. We love to serve our community and its humbling to work with people who like to give back to the community. It is so rewarding when your peers tell you that you’re doing a great job at it. Truly humbled to win an award that represents someone that did so much for the community, it means a lot to us. A perfect way to end a challenging year,” stated Wesley Smith, Managing Partner at Warmstone, upon winning the inaugural annual award.
A formal ceremony will take place with the family of Thomas Cavanagh to present the Annual Business Award to Warmstone Family Dentistry on December 12, 2020. The presentation will be held at the Cavanagh Construction Limited facility in Ashton at 10:30 a.m. Please note that social distancing and all health protocols will be in place.
