Stittsville Lions Club holding annual effective speaking contest

The largest annual competition in Canada supported by provincial Ministries and Boards of Education is taking place — local Lions Clubs across Canada are holding their 70th Effective Speaking Contest. The Stittsville Lions Club is holding the District A4 contest on Wednesday, February 26 at the Stittsville Lions Hall starting at 7:00 pm.

Open to all students in public and private schools, the contests will be in both English and French. There are three categories for students covering grades 4 to 12 – Junior, Intermediate and Senior. Topics for the speeches are chosen by the student, but entrants must adhere to the rules regarding topic chosen. Winners in each category will receive $100.00 with runners up receiving $25.00.

This Effective Speaking Contest offers students the opportunity to enhance their public speaking skills and can assist participants in their future career.
