Stittsville Lions Club present 5 scholarships to local students

Stittsville Lions Club

This past week, the Stittsville Lions Club presented five scholarships to students graduating from high school and planning to attend college or university in the fall. Every year the Lions provide $1,000 scholarships to local students. For students who are furthering their education, receiving a scholarship provides not only a financial boost, but allows the recipients to reach their personal goals.

With 14 exemplary students applying for the Lions scholarship, it was a time for a decision to be made. After much deliberation over several hours, five applicants were chosen.

Thanks to the Lions, the local students chosen are now able to concentrate on the most important factor of school – learning. The students receiving a Lions scholarship are: Amal Abed of Stittsville; Siobhan Atkins of Dunrobin; Madison Flanagan of Stittsville; Olivia Green of Stittsville, and, Steven Murphy of Stittsville. Each student was presented with a $1,000 scholarship, on behalf of the Stittsville Lions Club by Beth Lewis, to assist them as they continue on their educational journey.

(Amal Abed of Stittsville attended South Carleton High School. Amal was presented with her her $1,000 scholarship.)
(Siobhan Atkins of Dunrobin attended West Carleton High School. Siobhan was presented with her $1,000 scholarship.)
(Madison Flanagan of Stittsville attended both Sacred Heart High School and Frederick Banting Secondary Alternative School. Madison was presented with her $1,000 scholarship.)
(Olivia Green of Stittsville attended South Carleton High School. Olivia is presented with her $1,000 scholarship.)

The Lions congratulate the five scholars and look forward to this year’s recipients returning when they have completed their education to share where their education has taken them.
