The Stittsville Lions Club donated $8,500 to the Stittsville Food Bank just in time for the 2020 Christmas season. The money was raised during their annual fundraiser. Thanks to the fundraiser, the Lions were able to help fill the food bank hampers with grocery and pharmacy gift cards. This donation could not have been possible without the generosity of Stittsville’s local businesses and residents.
The donations didn’t stop at the end of 2020, they kept pouring in. Thanks to the ongoing generosity of the community, the Stittsville Lions were able to donate another significant amount.
The Lions donated an additional $6,000 to the food bank on February 27. Members emphasized the kindness shown with the many donations they received and expressed their thanks at the cheque presentation to the food bank.
“Without the generosity of Stittsville residents and area businesses this would not have been possible. We thank everyone who made this possible, especially in light of the difficult times everyone is facing,” said Lions President Don Zogalo.
Theresa Qadri, Chair of the Stittsville Food Bank, was “so pleased with the timely donation, especially in light of the struggle that the Stittsville community is experiencing at this time.”
This second donation from the annual fundraiser will go a long way in purchasing needed food and supplies for families who use the services of the food bank. Following the holiday season, January and February tend to be tight times for many.
