Stittsville Minor Softball seeks new umpires

Are you between the ages of 13-20 and looking for a fun way to make some money this spring/summer? If yes, you should consider umpiring!

The Stittsville Minor Softball Association (SMSA) is looking to recruit several new young umpires for the upcoming softball season. The games are played on ball diamonds all around Stittsville. The season runs from May to June and most games are either week nights at 6:30 p.m. or on the weekends.

Training and certification for all umpires is provided by the SMSA through the Umpire Clinic that will be held on Sunday, April 17th at the Stittsville Lions Club. The association also provides all the necessary equipment to umpire. Midway through the season, the SMSA will offer a free refresher umpiring course for those who really want to improve their skills.

Most umpires earn between $15-$20 per game, depending on their experience level and if they are in charge of home plate or the bases. So if you (or more likely your kids!) are interested in attending the clinic, contact SMSA right away to get signed up in time at: executive@stittsvillesoftball.org.

If you are interested in signing up as a player, registration spots are still open. Check out our website or register as a player online now at www.stittsvillesoftball.org. Hurry……Season starts May 1st!
