Nearly 5,000 customers lost power in Stittsville late Saturday afternoon for about an hour, between 4:30pm and 5:30pm.
Power was out in a large area including Stittsville Main from Abbott to Hazeldean, Iber Road, and a stretch along Flewellyn Road.
The power outage came at a particularly bad time with lots of traffic in the area on their way to the Garth Brooks show at Canadian Tire Centre, and restaurants preparing for the dinner rush. Grocery stores including Brown’s Independent shut down, and motorists were being turned away from the drive thru at the Tim Hortons on Stittsville Main.
