Since September, Stittsville Public School has had a special treat. Artist Kate Ryckman (aka Artist Kate) has been teaching art for kindergarten classes all the way up to grade six.
Each grade had a different theme. All classes had a different project. When I did my project, there was one rule: no erasing!
Artist Kate’s paintings that she brought to show us were very cool. She adds different items to her paintings. She uses sand from Hawaii and red sand from P.E.I.! Also wool was included to show texture.
The goal of these art projects were ways to help Stittsville Public School be a safe and respectful enviroment to learn in. I think it helped because even if your art work wasn’t as nice as Artist Kate’s, we all made great art!
After all the classes had done the art, all 650 pieces of art were put up on display at the front foyer for an “Art Show”. All the classes and some parents come down to admire all the beautiful art!
Artist Kate also offers art classes for kids and adults. To learn more go to www.artistkate.com

Excellent project for the school. The students were very lucky to have such an experienced coach.
A well written article describing the students participation from all grades.
