Two early morning fires in Stittsville and Kanata South moments apart

Ottawa Fire Services received a 911 call at 2:01 a.m. reporting smoke visible at a commercial building at the ‘La Cucina’ Restaurant on Hazeldean Road between Kincardine Drive and Roger Griffiths Avenue. On arrival, fire fighters confirmed flames visible at the front of the building in the one-storey commercial building and declared a working fire.

Firefighters searched to confirm there were no occupants in the building and ventilated the smoke from the structure before declaring the fire under control at 2:32 a.m. The fire damage was contained to a single unit in the commercial plaza, with smoke damage to surrounding businesses. An Ottawa Fire Investigator is at the scene to determine the cause.

Moments later, Ottawa Fire Services received a call from Ottawa Police at 2:02 a.m. reporting smoke coming from a restaurant, Law & Orders, in a commercial plaza on Terrance Matthews Crescent between Michael Cowpland and Denzil Doyle. Firefighters arrived on location at 2:06pm and entered the building to rapidly extinguish the flames.

Firefighters searched to confirm there were no occupants in the building and ventilated the smoke from the structure before declaring the fire under control at 2:33am. The damage was contained to a single unit in the commercial plaza and an Ottawa Fire Services Investigator is en route to confirm the cause of the fire.
