U-Rock Music School wants to get the word out that they’re looking to help two local kids (children or teens) to further their musical abilities for FREE this summer, through their Music Rox Fund.
“It’s important to us to give back to the community in this way. Helping young people with big talent who might not otherwise be able to afford music lessons,” says Cathy Hallessey, who runs the school.
The program provides six weeks of free lessons this summer to two deserving kids between 7-18 years who would like to learn how to sing, play guitar, bass, drums, ukulele or keyboard. The program started two years ago to provide lessons to those who are musically gifted but unable to afford lessons. Deadline to apply is June 1 and you can find an application form here.
U-Rock students will be performing at Arts in the Park on June 4 at 1pm and again at their end of school year 14th annual rock show on Saturday, June 24 at the Brass Monkey. It’s our school’s 20th anniversary this year we they’ll have a very special group performance at this event featuring some famous alumni – something not to be missed.
