UPDATE: Another refugee arrival in the community

(EDITOR’S NOTE: Last month, Rev. Grant Dillenbeck mentioned that the Kanata Stittsville Refugee Sponsorship Group (KSRSG) was expecting the arrival of a refugee from Syria last week. Here’s an update Dillenbeck sent late last week.)

We are thrilled that indeed he has arrived!   Dani Marina, a single male from Syria, had been living in Jordan.  He has family members here in Ottawa who will be supporting him and we submitted his application in early March.  He fled Syria due in large part to the violence and persecution he faced there as a Christian.  At the present time we do not require the donation of household or clothing items for Dani.  As he gets more settled we will let you know of any specific requests they may have.

You may also be interested to know that the KSRSG provided a significant donation to the Centretown Emergency Food Centre to assist them in providing support to those in the Centretown areas who are refugees from Syria, including those presently residing at the YMCA on Argyle St.

Thank you so much for your interest and support, and we will keep you informed about further developments regarding those who have arrived, and others we are seeking to sponsor.
