West Ottawa Ladies Chorus sings the anthem at City Hall on January 31

West Ottawa Ladies Chorus

In its few short years in existence, the West Ottawa ladies Chorus has grown from 12 members to over 40, has secured a faithful following and is now regarded as a vital member of the community.

Last November, they were invited to sing at the Kanata Remembrance Day Ceremony at the Village Green Memorial Park cenotaph and now City Hall has taken note – the chorus has been invited to open council on January 31st.

Councillors are given dates so that they can suggest a member/group from their community to open council and Councillor El-Chantiry did not hesitate to recommend the West Ottawa Ladies Chorus for Wednesday, January 31.

“Singing the National Anthem in both official languages a cappella, will be an honour and the chorus is very excited about the opportunity”, said Una Ferguson, President. Due to the time of day and the possibility of weather issues, the chorus will travel to City Hall by bus.

The choir website at www.westottawaladieschorus.ca has complete information on the choir’s activities. They are rehearsing for their spring concert ‘Musical Memories’ to take place at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 20 Young Rd. April 28, 7 pm. Tickets are now available on line.
