Event Type

On Tuesday, June 20th at 7:30 pm, the Stittsville Goulbourn Horticultural Society will be having our last meeting of the season at the Johnny Leroux Community Arena (second floor), 10 Warner-Colpitts Lane, Stittsville. Doors open at 7:00 pm. We do not meet in July or August. There will be no Zoom presentation.

This meeting, Spring Fling, is dedicated to the gardens of our members. We are going to have a small flower show consisting of three classes to enter, and a chance for our members to vote on their favourite entries. The three classes are listed below.

As well, we will have a table with examples of good and bad plants found in our gardens, and Lee Boltwood will be there to explain the difference and to answer your questions.

Finally, bring some of your favourite treats to share. A table will be set up for the treats, along with lemonade and iced tea. Yum! (Please bring your own mug.)

This is a great opportunity to check out some beautiful plants, nibble on sweets and savories, and chat with other members. If you are planning on entering the flower show at the D2 convention or the flower exhibits at the Richmond Fair, this friendly show will be a great way to practice.

These are the Classes:

Class One:

A container with two stems of any flowers from your garden. They should be the same flower type. You are not limited to the number of flowers on each stem.

Class Two:

A bouquet from your garden in a container. May contain flowers, stems, and branches from any plant.

Class Three:

A temptation in a teacup. Teeny flowers and greenery in a teacup or a tiny container. A good opportunity for small flowers, succulents, and mosses. The container should not be wider than 4 inches.

You are welcome to join us. If you would like to become a member, please send an email to sghorticultural@gmail.com. The annual membership is $15 per person or $25 per family.
