On the evening of August 15th, the weather was perfect for the Kiwanis Club of Kanata-Stittsville and their community supporters to see about 80 residents arrive at Village Square Park ready to view the movie “Harold and the Purple Crayon”. Of course, attendees also enjoyed the concession stand filled with movie fare – popcorn and candy floss.

The 2024 live-action animated fantasy movie, with a side of comedy, is based on the 1955 picture book in which a four-year-old boy uses his purple crayon to draw his own adventures and safely finds his way back to bed. The movie depicts Harold as a grown man stepping into the real world.

Thanks to their community sponsors – The Home Bosses Real Estate Team; Giant Tiger; and Desjardins Insurance – the Kiwanis were able to bring “Harold and the Purple Crayon” to the community for an evening of good family entertainment.
The Kiwanis Club of Kanata-Stittsville have hosted their Family Free Movie Night in the Park at Village Square Park for several years and hope to continue this tradition.
